 i was just gonna say that... how did that happen?! living in whistler, driving a porshe and riding bikes.. f*ck im jealous

 And to say pro riders don't make much money. I have seen local pros who scrap for every penny, and I have seen plenty of riders who aren't necessarily BIG time, and still get paid decent. Now you jump up to riders like Cedric ($250k+ a year published several years ago), Peaty (owns a NICE house and 3+ pubs around the world), Hill, Palmer (3 year contract in '99 for $1mil with Spec), Minnaar, those dudes are getting BANK. Yeah, they're top dogs, and they probably should get paid more for risking their neck, but they get to do what they love, nearly every day, get paid for it, and travel the world. Plus, with the rumor of how much Cedric was getting paid (just look at ONE of his houses!), that's nearly what mid level hockey players get.

 with all the respect... isn't that any of your business?! I guarantee you that knowing who has and earns what, is a terrible crap for your head... and I mean it: that's stupid enough to read about it, looking for it is plain madness: stay away from what's not yours, for your own sake

 Cedric owns a bar and a car import company if I remember correctly? Peaty started up Royal racing then sold it. Late 90s where when loads of money was in the sport so palmers contract wouldn't surprise me. Hill im sure raked in a bit the last few years but then he's one of the best known riders in the world..

 Yeah that would explain it then.. Most of the top riders still have other forms of income. No ones going to get rich off mtb really.

 Waki, it doesn't get to my head at all, nor do I look for this information. The only number I posted was of Cedric's rumored salary that was stated in Bike magazine a few years back, and it also claimed he had multiple houses. Really, it doesn't get to me because I know that this is the way it is in any sport or business, as bkbroiler said, 1% make 90%. Some of them from making it big in the sport, some elsewhere. Peaty apparently owns 3+ pubs and has his doctorate degree, Minnaar owns a Global Bike Shop, Cedric owns a car import company and is a architect 'connoisseur', and Schley apparently made it in the Real Estate business, and is a mtn biker as well as a pro skier. Hill and Palmer on the other hand, has multi-million dollar companies backing them (Specialized, Monster, and Fox Racing) which they have and can put further towards their success by starting brands such as Palmer, the snowboard company. It's not the mtn biking that gets you the dough, its what you do outside of the sport while you're in it that will get you the dough.

 Ohh ok yeah that was actually very helpful. As something comepletely irrelivent i actually saw Geoff at one of the Indoor BMX tracks a few weeks ago, his name was on the practice sheet hahaha!

 Just go to Morzine mate! The actual tracks are better I think, having been to both.

£550 for return flights (£60 for the bike on the flight if your taking it), around £400 for half board accommodation and around £100 for the lift pass for the week.
The rest is beer money.
You'll end up spending that much sorting yourself out in Morzine in my eyes.

 It cost me A LOT more to go to Whistler. 2 grand for a month in Whistler, and 1300 quid to do TWO months in Morzine. Morzine i was going out a lot, Whistler I didn't go nearly as much, and i had much less mechanicals in Whistler purely because I didn't have 09 boxxer teams with snappy stanchions.

 I agree with sam, the tracks are better in France and whistler is so much more expensive! I've spent a season in both Les Gets and Whistler, plus lift tickets in Whistler are way more than 100 for a week, they cost $199 for 3 days!

 The DH world are wrong mate! The reason is that Whistler are geared towards DH, they want it there. But France isn't that bothered, riders are more of a stop gap between winter seasons. However, the tracks in France are so much better and are like 90% tracks you'll ride anywhere in the world. Whistler is hardpack, pretty much everywhere. Unless of course you trek for 40+mins to get to unknown tracks which f*cking sucks. All tracks (including secret ones) in France are lift accessible, except for a few super super snide ones, but you won't find those

 just get out, apart from the riding, everything else is trash, a kid with a handycam could have done a better job.

 only if you spray them directly onto your bearings.

 If you don't have sealed bearings. Still not great for sealed bearings, but they were designed to keep water out. Still smart to take it them apart and rebuild them often if you wash your bike like that.

 I would'nt say the riding is the best in the world at all, but maybe just the biking lifestyle is where its at these days.

 Quinbaird- I have a feeling the sponsorship from adidas, Knolly and whoever else he's supported by could have something to do with it?! hahaha. When your a sponsored rider you get more than just free stuff if you've made it to the standard he's at buddy.
