Ryan Wants to Stoke you out - Episode 9 - Kamloops

by Ryan Berrecloth
Dec 10, 2010 at 15:22

Featured Riders: Brett Tippie and Dylan Sherrard

What can you say about Brett Tippie? Besides being inducted into the MTB Hall of Fame, one of the original “Fro” riders and an all around good dude that can still shred on his bike. I’ve never rode with Tippie in his native town of Kamloops, but I’m stoked we got some shots of him in his element. He’s still shredding and there’s never a short in entertainment when Tippie’s around. We returned to where some of the first big lines were documented back in the day and had some fun…cool to see where it all started. To complement the seggy we mixed in one of the current young shredders, Dylan Sherrard, to get some new school air time.

Kamloops is where free riding started with Tippie, Simmons, Schley and their crew and it still breeds some of the best talent in the business. Why? Cause the riding in Kamloops is f’n awesome, there, that’s why!

Hahaha....I love reading these comments. Look, its a simple fact, Ryan B is one of the most effective partners any brand can have. He is an active and effective promoter, respected in the industry (even if a few groms who can't pick up sponsors don't know it yet), a technically sound factory test team rider involved in product feedback and development, A SICK RIDER, and he truly wants to stoke every last one of you out. 10,000$ in prizes, and it was 100% Ryan's doing...and what do you think he gets out of it personally? As a sponsor of his, we value Ryan as much as any big name we have ever signed. As a reader and rider, everyone of you should too. If more pro's were as active and professional as Ryan, our jobs would be a lot easier, and your lives as riders would be a lot more fun! I suggest every last aspiring up-and-comer checks out Ryan's history and learns a lesson in what it takes to amass a list of brands like his that will support him to the end.

Tippie seems like he would be a blast to ride with! So enthusiastic about any kind of riding! By the way....no big deal-we use to ride down this stuff on hardtails with 100mm forks and 30mm stanchions! That knife edge ridge would be freaky enough as it is on a big travel bike! Awesome stuff!

I'm going to ride my dogs to the park...then I have to study for an exam tonight. At the end of this week though...it's on snow or shine!

Tippie is easily one of my favorite people to ride with, always pinned, having fun and so willing to help out a rider that needs some help to get better! Great video ambrose!

That ridge Tippie was riding and talking about, listen again because he does mention they started when their was no suspension all full rigid.

flag thebigschott (Dec 13, 2010 at 14:57)
Oh man! Full rigid and probably canti brakes too?! As long as the brake levers were anodized purple or turquoise they should be ok!

flag loamer (Dec 15, 2010 at 7:56)
no disrespect, but how much can you show in a short vid,Personally I think old school steeps and busting some big air is exactly what the Loops is all about. Sure there are a million other nuggets to ride, but it was concentrated on what these two riders are known for.

I'm a solid intermediate rider and have ridden with these two many times. They don't give a toss what your skill level is, its the fun factor that counts. And isn't that what its all about? I'm born and raised on the shore, but how do I love Kamloops? let me count the ways......Nice one Ryan, thanks for working so hard and bringing us the stoke!

The thing I love the best about the Loops is how welcoming everyone is out there. I spent a little time out there this fall and made a few really good friends, not to mention how sick the riding is!!! Thanks for all the Hook-ups Dion... we will shred next fall for sure!!!

Bit heavy, but apparently beefcake enough to stop a tank.
